I received my Ph.D. from York University. I have been practicing in Guelph for over 30 years in both private practice and on the staff of the Homewood Health Centre. I came to the field of Psychology from a diverse background. In past lives I have been an executive secretary, worked for an international airline and the Bahamian Ministry of Tourism. After the fun of that and all the travel it brought I found my way back to university when I was 27.
I offer many approaches to the therapy process always with the perspective that the client is the best expert on themselves. I am a great believer in the demystification of psychology. Central to my work is creating strong relationships with my clients. Within that relationship I offer a safe environment in which clients can explore their lives.
CLARISTERY is a model of relationships and individual growth, that I have developed through my years of practicing psychology. It is a useful option for work with adults of all ages especially during transitional periods in life.
I was born in Guelph but spent much of my younger years in the US and Switzerland. I have been a single mother; I still maintain a losing hope about a ballet career and understanding economics. I laugh a lot even with clients. I've had a lot of life experiences -- some pleasant and others not but I've lived through them all so far. I love the work I do and the people with whom I work. There is little that is more courageous than making one's self vulnerable. I applaud all of us who at some time in our lives allow others to lend us a hand.
